Mr.Hamad Hadi Al-HajriAssistant Director – Food Security Department Ministry of Municipality – Qatar

Hamad Al-Hajri is the Assisting Director of Food Security Department at the Ministry of Municipality of Qatar. The Food security department is responsible for implementing Qatar National Strategy of Food Security which aims to achieve food security for the state of Qatar by engaging stakeholders from the public and private sectors to develop and enhance the local food system via promoting agricultural production on the domestic level, developing the efficiency of the existing supply chain capabilities, building reserve stocks of key commodities and agricultural inputs, and enhancing food quality and safety and reducing food loss and waste. As Assistant Director, Hamad works closely with different stakeholders both in public and private sectors to ensure the delivery of national objectives of the food security strategy. His responsibilities include engaging with stakeholders to identify and resolve obstacles and challenges to ensure that the national objectives are met. Also, he works in coordination with other government entities to align and integrate food security objectives with governmental strategies in different sectors. Hamad holds a degree in Agriculture from Qatar university and brings to his position a well-established background in agribusiness with more than 17 years of experience. Prior to joining the Food Security Department, he worked in different companies within the agriculture and food industries in Qatar, in which he took different roles in agribusiness investment, agricultural R&D, horticulture and livestock trading.
